Health Investment & Financing and Chicago ArchAngels are excited to invite you to the Chicago 2015 Health Venture Fair: Innovation Pitches which will take place at  MATTER (222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza #1230, Chicago, IL), a well known Chicago-based health care accelerator in the historic Merchandise Mart of Chicago on October 8, 2015.  The Investor Pitches part of the Health Venture Fair takes place during the 39th World Hospital Congress of the International Hospital Federation (IHF) which is hosted by American Hospital Association (AHA) from October 6-8, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago (151 East Upper Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL).

The Investor Pitches Track of the Venture Fair provides a unique opportunity for Participating Companies (medical technology, pharmaceutical and health information) to present their innovative solutions to potential investors (industry leaders, investment bankers, fund managers, family offices, broker dealers, and high net-worth individuals who are actively looking for such investment opportunities).

It provides Investors with an opportunity to discover new and innovative companies with +10X potential for growth that can help hospitals improve their bottom line, provide higher quality care, and be more responsive to consumers, all aimed at high growth investment opportunities.

The Drive for Transformation in Hospital Sector

The 39th World Hospital Congress (IHF 2015) brings together Healthcare professionals from around the world, including key decision makers, investors and market leading health professionals, Hospital owners and Healthcare providers. Click Here to see Video about the Congress and Click Here for the full program of the Congress.
Healthcare is the largest, fastest growing, and most complex industry in the world. The U.S. healthcare system accounts for almost $3 trillion in annual expenditures, which is over 17% of its nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According to economists in the Office of the Actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), spending is projected to grow at an annual average rate of 5.8% through 2020, which is well above nation’s projected GDP growth. By 2020, healthcare spending is projected to exceed $4.5 trillion. The rest of the OECD and most emerging economies face similar challenges.
Despite its size and growth trajectory, the healthcare industry is plagued with large-scale problems and inefficiencies that are prompting a massive transformation in how care is accessed, delivered, and reimbursed.
These challenges confronting healthcare have created opportunities for companies with innovative new technologies and disruptive business process innovation to service delivery to make a major contribution to the cost, outcomes and patient satisfaction in the health sector throughout the world.
The International Hospital Federation is committed to helping address these challenges throughout the hospitals sector in its member countries.

Objective of the Chicago 2015 Health Venture Fair

The objectives of the Investor Pitches track of the Chicago 2015 Health Venture Fair is to allow innovative technology companies that are seeking early stage and growth capital to make a pitch to a select group of investors that want potential +10X growth in their investments while also contributing a transformation in the way hospital care is delivered in the 21st Century.

Format of Session

The format of the session is inspired by Shark Tank the American reality television series that premiered August 9, 2009 on ABC. Based on the worldwide television series format Dragons' Den that originally aired in Japan, Shark Tank has aspiring entrepreneur-contestants make business presentations to a panel of "shark" investors. The show features a panel of potential investors, called "sharks", who consider offers from aspiring entrepreneurs seeking investments for their businesses or products. In the TV Series, the entrepreneur can make a deal on the show if a panel member is interested. However, if all of the investors do not like what they see and hear, the entrepreneur leaves empty-handed.
During the Investor Pitches track of the Chicago 2015 Health Venture Fair, the 10 minute pitches by the entrepreneurs and grilling by the panel of investors will be similar, but the entrepreneurs will be given an added advantage of prior introduction to select investors and the investors will be given an added advantage of prior access to the financials and due diligence reviews for the companies.
The aim being that the event will lead to the successful identification of several top target companies for the investors and a successful round of fund raising and global brand recognition for the entrepreneurs.
